Rare MORÈRE 1897 coffee from Dalat, Vietnam - an original gift for coffee lovers

Why Choose a Coffee from Vietnam?

Choosing MORÈRE 1897 coffee means more than choosing a premium coffee: it is a choice with meaning. For more than a century, our relationship with the M'Nông Chil ethnic group in Vietnam has rested on mutual respect for each other's cultures and traditions, and on fair pay, without haggling over their price.

Our coffee preserves traditional growing methods: agroforestry that respects biodiversity, no chemical fertilisers, selective hand-picking bean by bean, and artisanal roasting right where it is grown. Choosing our high-altitude coffees directly helps preserve an exceptional agricultural and cultural heritage, keep jobs in mountain villages, and support rural Vietnamese communities who carry on ancestral know-how.

The story of our exceptional Vietnamese coffee is one of a kind: in 1976, the Morère family had to leave Vietnam. Rather than taking over the land, the M'Nông Chil ethnic group made the extraordinary decision to preserve, for more than three decades, the exact memory of where the family plantations stood. In 2007, when Pierre Morère returned to Vietnam to look for the lands of his ancestors, the M'Nông Chil ethnic group guided him through the forests and hills to find the century-old coffee trees scattered across the mountain. This rare loyalty and deep mutual respect are the origin of our partnership.

Recognition That Speaks for Itself

This exceptional rebirth did not go unnoticed: our Bourbon Pointu was encouraged by Pierre Gagnaire, three-Michelin-star chef, as soon as Pierre settled in Dalat. The plantation was visited by Jacques Pourcel and his team. The coffee was distributed by Annam Gourmet and was once available at La Grande Épicerie de Paris. Leading chefs have recognised the extraordinary quality of a coffee so rare that it represents less than 1% of world production. Choosing it means joining a circle of discerning enthusiasts who know that true luxury lies in authenticity, full traceability and the experience behind every cup.

Pierre Morère spent 8 years of apprenticeship with the M'Nông Chil ethnic group (2007-2015) relearning traditional coffee-growing methods. It was a total immersion: Pierre settled in the village of Da Sar, still closed to foreigners in 2007, and still lives there today. This experience shaped a business model built on mutual respect and the passing on of knowledge.

Our customers are not just numbers in a database. They are part of a community of exceptional coffee lovers who share the same deep values: authenticity and full transparency, uncompromising quality, traceability from plantation to cup, and deep respect for the land and the people who have farmed it for generations. Every cup helps carry on this unique family adventure, support the village of Da Sar and preserve ancestral farming techniques in the face of industrialisation.

Ready to be part of this extraordinary human adventure? Discover our three exceptional high-altitude coffees and join the hundreds of customers who have consciously chosen an ethical, traceable premium coffee, knowing exactly where it comes from and who grew it with passion.

Why Is Bourbon Pointu So Highly Priced?

It represents less than 1% of world coffee production. Its yields are extremely low (around 150 grams per tree per year, compared with 300 grams for a standard variety), it is harvested exclusively by hand and sorted bean by bean, using expertise acquired from the M'Nông Chil ethnic group.
